  • Vancouver Public Library
  • North Vancouver Public Library
  • Place des Arts
  • St Leonards' Youth & Family Services
  • Deaf Youth Today

Please contact me at with teaching inquiries. I'd be happy to work together to develop a program for either kids or adults!

Sample topics

Here are some topics I've spoken and taught on before. I'm also happy to create a custom plan with you based on any lesson or themes you might want to tie in to.

I am booking for both in-person and online events.

"Graphic Novels are for Everyone!" Literacy Program

A 1.5 hour fun and games session. The program covers 4 topics:

  • how comic artists use comic devices (like panel shots)
  • how comic artists use visual devices (like colour and line)
  • vocabulary in comics (and how graphic novels are great for learning rare words and building vocabulary)
  • continuity in comics

Informative slides are paired with comic-related games & quizzes that both kids and families can participate in. The intent is to teach kids about the techniques that go behind graphic novels, while at the same time showing parents the value of graphic novels, and how they help kids subconsciously develop literacy. Note: This workshop is intended as a family fun activity, and does not include any drawing instruction. For ages 8-12.

Manga Art Workshop

1.5 hours. One of my most popular workshops - this is a drawing-heavy workshop that covers the basics of how to draw a manga / anime style face, and includes a systematic step-by-step of how to draw the proportions of a human body! Tailored to any age 8 and up.

Comic Art Workshop

A 2 hour workshop. Covers the whole process of creating a 1-2 page comic story, from brainstorming to scriptwriting to artwork. Tailored to any age 7 and up.

Acrylic Painting Workshop

A 2 hour session on colour mixing and basic painting skills, working from a photo. Participants will finish with a simple but cute painting - think plants, cake, etc. Special supplies and sink access required. For ages 9 and up.
